The Open University

The Open University offers individual course and degree programmes to adults who study part-time and at a distance, and who may enrol without any previous qualifications. This means that students coming to our level 2 physics course(studied both by those who intend to take physics further and by those who would just like a taste of the subject) do so with a wide range of mathematical preparedness. A short course ‘Maths for science’ has been written to increase the mathematical confidence of those who feel they need it before taking the level 2 physics course or any other Open University science course. The resource provided by the Open University for PPLATO is an electronic version of the main course book of ‘Maths for science’.
